ORIENTATION

Welcome to the Certificate in Generation Management Skills (L3Cert.Skill) Course which forms part of the introductory EduVisa Business Skills Programme.

The Millennial Generation, a demographic categorization for those born between 1981 and 1996, is frequently a topic of debate. This generation has often been depicted in a negative light. Conversely, millennials are also described as one of the most adaptive and creative generations. Millennials face unique financial challenges, such as high student loan debt and rising housing costs but are characterised as tech-savvy, diverse, and socially conscious. 

This course is intended to empower managers to understand how much of their role is really about their people, as well as aspects of legislation, policy, and procedures that involve human resourcing issues.

By the end of this course, the learner/student will be able to:

• Describe what is meant by the term "Millennials" and where they are positioned in terms of other generational groups such as the 'Baby-Boomers'.
• Define the characteristics of the millennial generation.
• Analyse their approach to the marketplace and the management function.
• Understand how millennials define and view career advancement
• Emphasise the crucial role that mentorship and networking play in career advancement and job satisfaction for millennials. 
• Mentor Millennials for leadership.
• Describe the way in which "institutional knowledge as well as experiential knowledge" can be transferred from one generation to the next. 

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The course could typically be completed within 3 - 4 days depending on the commitment and effort of the student. An online test assessment will be scheduled as soon as the student has communicated his/her readiness to the Online Tutor to take the examination. The pass rate for this course is 60%.

STUDY METHODOLOGY

Students access the prescribed Study Manual as well as the Online Test Assessment by clicking on the link in the left column of the Student Dashboard. Upon completion of the Online Test Assessment, the student will be activated for the next Course.

ONLINE TEST ASSESSMENT

The Online Test Assessment consists of a combination of multiple-choice, true-false as well as assignment-format questions.  

ACADEMIC PROGRESSION

Students who have successfully completed the Certificate in Generation Management - Millennials (L3Cert.Skill) may progress to the Diploma in Higher Education Access (L3Dip.HEA) in order to access the EduVisa UK Bachelor/Master’s Degree Programme, or alternatively continue to specialise in the subject by registering towards the Professional Diploma in Human Resources Management (L6PDip.Man) (SA) (IQF).
