ORIENTATION

Success in any industry relies on relationships, whether with co-workers, clients, suppliers, or investors. When you’re well-mannered and considerate in dealing with others, you create engaging, productive, and long-term business relationships. As such, it is important to learn, not just the technical side of a business, but how to conduct one’s self in the company of others. This course will introduce learners/students to business etiquette, as well as provide guidelines for the practice of business etiquette across different situations.

By the end of this course, learners/students will be able to:

  • Define etiquette and provide an example of how etiquette can be of value to a company or organization.
  • Understand the guidelines on how to make effective introductions.
  • Identify the 3 Cs of a good impression.
  • Identify at least one way to minimize nervousness while in social situations.
  • Understand how to use a business card effectively.
  • Identify and practice at least one way to remember names.
  • Identify the 3 steps in giving a handshake.
  • Enumerate the four levels of conversation and provide an example for each.
  • Understand place settings, napkin etiquette, and basic table manners.
  • Understand the protocol for ordering in a restaurant, handling alcohol in a business meal, paying the bill, and tipping.
  • Understand basic guidelines when it comes to the proper form of address, grammar standards, and use of acronyms in e-mails.
  • Understand basic guidelines for the use of the telephone, voicemail, and cell phone.
  • State the difference between a formal and an informal letter.
  • Create an effective ‘Thank You’ note.
  • Understand the meaning of colours in dressing for success.
  • Differentiate among the dressy casual, semi-formal, formal and black tie dress codes.
  • Understand basic guidelines in international etiquette.

 

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The course could typically be completed within 1 - 3 days depending on the commitment and effort of the student. An online test assessment will be scheduled as soon as the student has communicated his/her readiness to the Online Tutor to take the examination. The pass rate for this course is 60%.

 

STUDY METHODOLOGY

Students access the prescribed Study Manual as well as the Online Test Assessment by clicking on the link in the left column of the Student Dashboard. Upon completion of the Online Test Assessment, the student will be activated for the next Course.

 

ONLINE TEST ASSESSMENT

The Online Test Assessment consist of a combination of multiple-choice, true-false as well as assignment-format questions.  

 

ACADEMIC PROGRESSION

Students who have successfully completed the Certificate in Human Resources Skills (L3Cert.Skill) may progress to the Diploma in Higher Education Access (L3Dip.HEA) in order to access the EduVisa UK Bachelor/Masters Degree Programme or alternatively continue to specialise in the subject matter by registering towards the Professional Diploma in Human Resources Management (L6PDip.Man) (SA) (IQF).

 

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

Use the  Pay Online Button  on the Course Portal to be directed to the secure Payment Gateway (PayPal, PayFast, FlyWire) to effect EFT, Debit/Credit Card and Bank/Cash Deposit payments in R, £, ¥, € or $.
